  • Taken From Townsville Daily Bulletin Wednesday 28 January 1931 BLUE MOUNTAINS. GREAT LANDSLIDE SOON. Millions of Tons of Rock Ready lo Fall. SYDNEY, January 27. Within a day or so, the Blue Mountains at Katoomba are likely to stage a most inconceivable landslide of millions of tons of rock into the lovely Jamison Valley, thousands of feet below. At Katoomba on Saturday, amazed crowds heard menacing rumblings, as an enormous bulk of the cliff face between Narrow Neck and Katoomba Falls started to spill, and a fissure six feet to 12 ft. wide gradually opened as a prelude to the imminent tragedy of Nature.
